Explore the sales-area combinations available in the training system and save your usual values as personal defaults. Reopen the settings to verify they were saved, and distinguish these user preferences from the organizational structure already configured for the business.
An existing customer orders five bicycles and two hours of repair service. Create the sales order, check the customer, requested delivery date, item quantities and units, and record the saved order number for the delivery and billing tasks that follow.
Review the order you just created before moving to delivery processing. Check payment terms, item prices, confirmed quantities and schedule lines, then inspect the process flow to distinguish planned follow-up documents from completed business activity.
Continue with the same customer order and create its outbound delivery. Check the shipping point, selection date and bicycle quantity, then verify the updated order status. Explain why the repair-service item does not appear in this physical delivery.
Record the five bicycles as picked and post goods issue for the saved delivery. Compare unrestricted-use stock before and after posting to verify the reduction, and explain why creating a delivery, recording picking and posting goods issue are different stages.
Bring the service order reference and bicycle delivery together in one customer invoice. Check the billing result, company code and linked journal entry, and explain why a completed invoice and shipped delivery do not mean the customer’s balance has been cleared.
Switch to a separate customer request and create a business partner with customer sales data. Maintain the relevant sales-area settings and inspect the sold-to, ship-to, bill-to and payer functions, preparing the record for the customer-change test that follows.
Add another ship-to party and create a test order under the customer’s original payment terms. Change the payment terms in the customer master, reopen that same order and compare the values to establish whether the existing document adopted the new agreement.
A material already exists, but its sales data needs to be added. Extend it with the required sales views and English sales text, keeping the same product number. Check what has been maintained and why pricing remains a separate task.
Maintain a PR00 material price and K007 customer discount, then verify both in a new sales order. Read the pricing units, rates and condition values to reconcile the item calculation and distinguish a selling-price discount from an early-payment discount.
Handle a separate customer request for five bicycles by creating an inquiry, a quotation for three and an order for one. Follow the references between the documents and explain why the inquiry is complete while the quotation remains in process in this case.
Create a separate service order with a billing block and locate it in the fulfillment worklist. Release the selected order’s block, verify that unrelated issues remain unchanged, and explain what removing the hold allows—and what it has not yet completed.
Compare incoming order values for a defined month and currency, identify the leading customers and drill down to supporting sales orders. Present the comparison as a bar chart and export it to Excel, keeping order intake separate from profit or cash received.
Get an overview of the Materials Management module and its role in managing procurement, purchasing, and inventory in SAP.
Explore the organization structure for procurement: purchasing organizations, purchasing groups, plants, and storage locations, and how they relate in SAP MM.
Analyze an example of a centralized purchasing organizational structure and understand how having a central purchasing org impacts procurement processes.
Learn about key MM master data such as material masters, vendor masters, and purchasing info records, and why accurate master data is critical for procurement and inventory management.

Updated for 2026 | Learn SAP S/4HANA Through Practical Business Cases
A customer places an order. What needs to happen before it can be delivered, invoiced and paid for? Which records does each team need, and where would you look if something went wrong?
These are the questions we’ll work through in this course. Understanding how a business process fits together gives every SAP screen, document and transaction a clearer purpose.
The Ultimate SAP S/4HANA Course 2026: From Zero to Expert takes you from the fundamentals into guided demonstrations and business cases across sales, purchasing, manufacturing, finance and HR. You can start without previous SAP experience.
The course now includes 22 hours and 38 minutes of video, eight business cases and 10 practice roleplays, alongside downloadable process maps and reference materials.
I’m Michael Todd, an SAP consultant with over a decade of experience working with Fortune 500 companies. I’ve designed this course to help you understand what people are trying to achieve in SAP, why particular steps are necessary and how to check the result.
We’ll begin with ERP fundamentals, SAP GUI and Fiori navigation, organisational structures and master data. You’ll see why a customer, supplier or material record matters before following the transactions that depend on it.
As you progress, you’ll learn to trace documents and postings, interpret process statuses and explain how work passes between departments. That gives you a practical foundation for discussing SAP with colleagues, investigating a process question and choosing an area for further study.
The latest updates include eight business cases, each with specific tasks and business questions to work through:
1. Manage sales operations in SAP S/4HANA.
Create an order for bikes and a repair service, review prices and confirmations, and follow delivery and billing activities. Explore customer records, quotations and pricing, then investigate a billing block. You’ll learn how to connect an order’s status with the next action the business needs to take.
2. Manage purchasing for two plants in SAP S/4HANA.
Work through material records, supplier purchasing data and purchasing info records. Compare prices across plants, explore central contracts and source determination, and examine automatic purchase order creation. See why purchasing depends on getting the underlying data and settings right.
3. Manage manufacturing in SAP S/4HANA.
Follow bike production and paint manufacturing as two different examples. Explore how demand and material requirements planning lead to production or process orders, then review confirmations, goods movements and batches. Learn how the records show progress from planning towards completed production.
4. Manage accounts payable in SAP ECC 6.0.
Explore supplier records, expense invoices, recurring rent entries and a purchase of monitors. Follow goods receipt, invoice verification, automatic payments and clearing, then examine period-end activities. Understand the distinction between recording an invoice, recognising when payment is due and reviewing the payment posting.
5. Manage fixed assets in SAP S/4HANA.
Build an asset portfolio and work through acquisitions, transfers, depreciation, sales and scrapping. Compare planned and posted values, then use asset balances and the asset history sheet to explain how the portfolio has changed.
6. Buy bike locks in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
Work through purchasing requests, supplier quotations, a quantity contract and orders against that contract. Examine goods receipt, supplier invoicing and payment-run postings, checking the stock and accounting records. You’ll see what each stage establishes and what still needs to happen.
7. Prepare for a team review in SAP SuccessFactors.
Explore employee address and allowance changes, create and review a performance goal with AI assistance, and examine successor readiness and development goals. Practise bringing relevant information together to support a manager’s discussion about the team.
8. Analyse business performance in SAP Analytics Cloud.
Follow finance and sales stories, including a sales story built from a CSV file. Explore margins, time comparisons, filters and linked analysis. Record assumptions with comments and practise explaining what the figures mean for someone making a business decision.
You’ll learn through guided system demonstrations, with 10 practice roleplays giving you opportunities to explain your reasoning. These include discussing a billing block, resolving a purchasing handoff, investigating a margin decline and negotiating a fit-to-standard requirement.
That communication matters. Being able to explain why a process has stopped, what evidence you have and what should happen next is a useful part of working with SAP.
Downloadable process maps, course keynotes and transaction references support your revision. The wider curriculum also introduces SAP Business AI and Joule, HANA, reporting, Basis, user authorisations, RISE with SAP and the SAP Activate implementation approach. Optional lessons explain practice-system access options, while career and certification-planning lessons help you decide where to focus next.
Whether you’re considering an SAP career, supporting an implementation or trying to understand the system better in your current role, this course gives you a structured starting point and specific examples to learn from.
Enrol and join me in the first lesson. We’ll start with the business picture, then work through the processes and SAP activities that bring it to life.
